Carers Gateway

A new one-stop shop is up and running for Australia’s 2.7 million carers.

The Carer Gateway provides practical advice and support for carers.

It explains carer payments and financial supports if you care for someone with disability and helps put people in touch with the right support groups. It also has advice for carers about how to stay mentally well and physically healthy.

The Carer Gateway includes a new hotline 1800 422 737 and call back service that promises a call back in less than 3 hours. The hotline operates between 8am and 6pm, Monday to Friday.

Assistant Minister for Social Services Alan Tudge said the Carer Gateway is the “first step of an Integrated Plan for Carer Support Services”.

“Many carers do not have the time to go searching across multiple sites for reliable information on how to access local respite services or social support,” he said.
