A new report released today by Anglicare highlights the lack of affordable housing for low-income earners and people receiving income support such as on the Disability Support Pension.

The 6th annual Rental Affordability Snapshot 2015 reveals a chronic lack of affordable housing for people on low incomes in Australia.

Of more than 65,000 rental properties surveyed nationally for the snap shot on the weekend of April 11, 2015, Anglicare says less than 2% were affordable for people on the Disability Support Pension.

In Greater Sydney, not one of more than 15,000 properties advertised for rent was affordable for a single person on a Disability Pension.

This report again highlights what Every Australian Counts supporters have been saying: action is urgently needed to increase the access for people with disability to affordable and appropriate housing.
