My name is Janelle. Willow has Global Delay. We noticed a lot from an early age. The preschool pointed a few of things out to us. She didn’t crawl til she was over one, she didn’t walk until she was nearly two. So she’s had a lot of delays through her life. Speech is still an ongoing problem.
I was actually shopping in at the sensory shop in Newcastle, the One Stop Sensory Shop and the lady wrote it all down on a piece of paper for me, guided me and told me yes there’s a new NDIS opening in Charlestown and it would be worthwhile seeing if you were eligible.
Honestly, I didn’t think Willow’s needs were bad enough, I just thought they were for more severe cases but you have to give it a go, You got to talk to other people in the same boat. If you go to groups and stuff you learn so much just through other people, organisations like Prelude, you’ve just got to give it a go.
