New forum for consultation

The Federal Government has established a new National Disability and Carers Advisory Council.

Council members include business representatives as well as disability and care sector advocates from all states and territories.

Assistant Minister for Social Services and Disability Services Jane Prentice will co-chair the new Council alongside disability advocate Ms Keran Howe, Executive Director of Women with Disabilities Victoria.

The Council will contribute to discussions about disability and care sector reform, including looking at disability employment and carer support.

It will also provide advice as the roll out of the NDIS continues and help drive the National Disability Strategy 2010-2020.
