happy holidays

Another year almost done, and it’s been a huge one for the NDIS.

On 1 July people with disability, their families and carers celebrated across the country as the NDIS began rolling out in many areas of Australia.

Despite some serious issues, including the failure of the NDIA’s myPlace portal, the NDIS will transform the lives of hundreds and thousands of people, giving them choice and control over their disability supports.

This year our supporters have shared fantastic stories about how the NDIS is supporting them.

It’s provided Janet McKinney with the independence and confidence she needed to set up a new business.

It’s supporting Willow at school and in her dancing.

And it’s transformed the lives of James and his family in the ACT – funding support workers and giving him the freedom to enjoy being a teenager and his parents the flexibility to work.

However, as Every Australian Counts Director John Della Bosca says, with a change as big as the NDIS is, it will take time to get right.

We’re keeping our Every Australian Counts Community Survey open over the break to give people more time to respond.

We have a lot of work to do in 2017 to make sure the NDIS is the best it can be.

So, it’s time for a break to get ready for the year ahead.

Thanks for your support.

We’ll be back in early January ready to go.

See you then.
